On the occasion of Indian Organ Donation Day, the Department of Community Medicine & General Medicine at GMC & MPGIMER, Nashik, in collaboration with the Training College of Nursing, Civil Hospital, Nashik, successfully organized an Organ Donation Awareness Rally on 3rd August 2024.
The rally was inaugurated by Dr. Kiran Patole, who flagged off the event at 10:00 AM from the District Civil Hospital, Nashik. The rally proceeded through key locations including Civil Hospital, Chandak Circle, Gadkari Chauk, and Trimbak Naka, before returning to the Civil Hospital. After completing the planned route, all participants returned to the Civil Hospital, where the event officially came to an end at 1:00 PM. The primary goal of this rally was to raise awareness about the critical need for organ donors and to encourage individuals to pledge to donate their organs, thereby saving lives.
The rally saw participation from over 300 individuals, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. All participants took a solemn pledge to donate their organs, demonstrating their commitment to this essential cause.
Junior doctors, nursing students and teachers played a significant role in the rally, sharing their insights on the importance of organ donation and its profound impact on society. Their speeches highlighted the need for increased awareness and urged the public to support organ donation by making a pledge.
The rally was a tremendous success, with active participation and enthusiasm from all involved. The combined efforts of the organizers, participants, and volunteers had a powerful impact on raising awareness about organ donation within the community.
The event concluded with a strong sense of dedication among all attendees to continue advocating for organ donation, ensuring that more lives can be saved through this noble act.
